The work categorizes the spiritual levels of fasting into three tiers: the common folk, who restrain the stomach and private parts; the elite, who additionally protect their entire body from sinful acts; and the super elite, who abstain from everything that is not for the sake of Allah. It establishes that the intention for a fast may be made at any time from sunset until Zahwa e Kubra, which is defined as the midday stipulated by Shariah. While the intention is fundamentally an act of the heart, it is considered desirable to express it audibly. The text specifies the exact Arabic phrases to be used for intentions made at night or during the day. It also addresses the necessity of making a fresh intention for every individual day of Ramadan, as a single intention for the entire month is insufficient.
