What we hold, and why

Signing in stores your email address, and — if you sign in through another account you already have — the name and picture on it. Your password is handled by the authentication service we use and is never seen or stored by us.

Your conversations are saved to your account so you can return to them. You can delete any conversation, and deleting it removes it from our database.

To produce an answer, your question and the passages found for it are sent to the AI model that writes it. Under the terms we use it on, that content is not used to train the model. A conversation you choose to share becomes readable by anyone with the link, until you unshare it.

If you send a question to a scholar, the question and your name and email are stored so the answer can reach you. When a scholar answers, the question and its answer may be published in the library — without your name or email.

The site counts page views and which features are used. It is deliberately limited: no question text, no answer text, no names and no email addresses are ever sent to analytics. What is sent is shape only — how long an answer was, how confident it was, how many sources it cited. Library search terms are sent, because they query a public catalogue and tell us which sources to add next.

Donations are handled by an external payment processor. Card details go to them and never reach our servers. We receive the amount, the date and the name and email you gave at checkout, for our nonprofit records.

Only the providers who run the site for us — hosting, sign-in, the database, analytics, the AI model behind the answers, and donation processing — and only the part each of them needs to do its job. We do not sell anything, and nothing is shared with advertisers. Write to us if you want the current list.

A cookie keeps you signed in. Analytics sets its own. There is no advertising tracking on this site.

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their data. Write to us if you believe we have.

You can delete conversations from your own account page. To have your account and everything attached to it removed, write to help@noorenabi.org and we will do it.
